There are plenty of reasons why people want to learn how to play the guitar. For many people it’s cool to be able to play a guitar to impress your friends or at parties. It’s also a great way to socialize with people as you can progress to playing in a band. It can also be a lot of fun and a good distraction from day to day activities like work or school. It may even turn out to be a perfect way to express your thoughts and feelings and be a creative outlet for you. Whatever your reason for learning guitar, you have to start at the beginning with beginners guitar lessons.
What’s Involved In Beginners Guitar Lessons
Beginners Guitar Lessons will teach you the basics of the guitar. While acoustic guitars and electric guitars are different from your common or garden, 6 string guitar, the theory is the same for all guitars but the techniques may be slightly different.
The very first beginners guitar lesson will basically be a familiarization of the guitar, including the new terms and jargon that you will have to master if you want to learn guitar. This can be a bit daunting at first because you are effectively learning anew language. It will take time but with good lessons it shouldn’t be a problem.
First lessons might include what the various parts of the guitar are called, how to tune your guitar, how to hold your hands on the guitar, how to hold a chord, and how to strum a guitar. All of these will be basically the same for an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar.
After your initial getting to know the guitar lesson, your teacher will begin to show you more about basic chords and you will learn some very basic songs. In order to learn these basic songs, you will need to learn some beginner guitar tabs. The lessons will teach you the easiest and most basic chords in your Beginners Guitar Lessons. Once you are comfortable with these chords and are strumming the guitar with good rhythm then you may go onto to more difficult guitar tabs and chords.
Progressing Past Beginners Guitar Lessons
Beginners Guitar Lessons may last for several months or a year, depending on how naturally talented you are or how quickly you advance. The only way you are going to progress past beginners guitar lessons, however, is through practice. Regardless of your talent, you need to practice.
As a beginner, you should practice at least an hour a day if you want to improve quickly. This may not be practical for many people that have more pressing responsibilities. The main thing is to not practice too much in any one day. Instead of practicing four hours in one day, try to space it out. Practice fifteen minutes here or twenty minutes there. The key is to get into a routine.
Whatever you can do to break up the time so that you are not getting burnt out with practice is a positive. However, if you do only have a few hours on one day a week to devote to practice, by all means practice!
